Quarters for Cancer

Our Student Council project for March will be our annual "Quarters for Cancer" project to benefit the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. This year's drive will start on Monday March 2 and conclude on Wednesday April 1.

 

Each homeroom teacher will need to provide their own collection jug for this project. Any empty milk jug or any sort of jar should be fine for the collection of the quarters.

 

There will be two separate competitions during the month-long collection period with the "Quarters for Cancer" project.

- The grade level that collects the most quarters will receive a popsicle party for the entire grade sometime after Spring Break.

- The one class in the whole school that collects the most quarters will receive a cookie party for their class sometime after Spring Break.

All types of monies are accepted for donation, but only quarters will count towards your class' total.

As we did last year, there will be several spirit day opportunities for you and your students throughout the collection period. Here is a quick look at what all will be going on.

 

Spirit Days:

 

Friday March 6 – Crazy Socks Day

Students who donate at least 4 quarters from March 2-March 5 will be allowed to wear crazy socks to school on Friday March 6.  Students are still expected to be in full uniform.

 

Friday March 20 – Team Jersey Day

Students who donate at least 4 quarters from March 9-19 will be allowed to wear their favorite team jersey to school on Friday March 20.  Students are still expected to wear proper uniform pants, shorts, skirt or skort.

 

Friday March 27 - Hat and Shades Day:

Students who donate at least 4 quarters from March 23-26 will be allowed to wear a hat and sunglasses to school on Friday March 27. Students are still expected to wear uniform pants, shorts, skirt or skort

 

Friday April 3 – Orange and Blue Day

Students who donate at least 4 quarters from March 30-April 1 will be allowed to wear orange and blue to school on Friday April 3.  Students are still expected to uniform pants, shorts, skirt or skort

 

One helpful hint - Please keep your collection jug in a safe place. It seems that at least a couple of jugs go missing during the month of March, so please keep your jug somewhere safe.
